Kamiari Festival was held from 0ct. 10 to Oct. 17 in lunar calendar (from Nov.10 to Nov. 17 in solar calendar).

is said that the myriad deities arrive in Izumo from the sea and come ashore at the site of religious service of Inasa beach, guided by sea snake, dragon-like serpent known as “Ryuja”.

In welcome ceremony held on Oct.10 in lunar calendar, the deities were enshrined in temporary altar known as himorogi (sakaki branch), and protected by silk fence, moved in procession to the Izumo Oyashiro Shrine, and resided in subsidiary shrines called Jukusha.

On Oct. 17 in lunar calendar, the deities leaved Izumo Oyashiro Shrine in Karasade festival. Himorogi was carried from the Jukusha to Haiden (worship hall). When the priest knocked on the door of the inner gate of Romon (tower gate) 3 times, the deities leaved the shrine.
